Gloucestershire ( abbreviated Glos) is a county in South West England. The county comprises allocation of the Cotswold Hills, part of the flat fruitful valley of the River Severn and the entire Forest of Dean.

The county town is the city of Gloucester and further principal towns include Cheltenham, Stroud, Tewkesbury, Cirencester, Dursley, Cinderford and Lydney.

Gloucestershire borders Herefordshire to the north-west, Worcestershire to the north, Warwickshire to the north-east, Oxfordshire to the east, Wiltshire to the south, Bristol and Somerset to the south-west, and the Welsh county of Monmouthshire to the west.

The current Gloucestershire County Council Place does not have the same geographical boundaries as the historic county. Some northern parts of the county, including Long Marston and Welford-on-Avon, were transferred to Warwickshire in 1931. Following the Local Government Act 1972, some southern parts of the county were transferred to the new county of Avon, which ceased to exist upon 1 April 1996. After 1996, the city of Bristol and South Gloucestershire became remove unitary authorities.

Greater Manchester is a metropolitan county and combined authority area in North West England, with a population of 2.8 million; comprising ten metropolitan boroughs: Manchester, Salford, Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Rochdale, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford and Wigan. The county was created on 1 April 1974, as a result of the Local Government Act 1972, and designated a functional city region on 1 April 2011. Greater Manchester is formed of parts of the historic counties of Cheshire, Lancashire and the West Riding of Yorkshire.

Greater Manchester spans 493 square miles (1,277 km), which roughly speaking covers the territory of the Greater Manchester Built-up Area, the second most populous urban Place in the UK. Though geographically landlocked, it is connected to the sea by the Manchester Ship Canal which is nevertheless open to shipping in Salford and Trafford. Greater Manchester borders the ceremonial counties of Cheshire (to the south-west and south), Derbyshire (to the south-east), West Yorkshire (to the north-east), Lancashire (to the north) and Merseyside (to the west). There is a amalgamation of high-density urban areas, suburbs, semi-rural and rural locations in Greater Manchester, but land use is mostly urban—the product of concentric urbanisation and industrialisation which occurred mostly during the 19th century in the same way as the region flourished as the global centre of the cotton industry. It has a focused central issue district, formed by Manchester city centre and the neighboring city of Salford and Borough of Trafford, but Greater Manchester is then a polycentric county like ten metropolitan districts, each district is concentrated regarding a large town or a city (Manchester and Salford being the deserted cities). These districts contain suburbs, towns and villages for each city and town.

Wrexham ( REKS-əm; Welsh: Wrecsam; Welsh pronunciation: [ˈrɛksam]) is a market town and the administrative centre of Wrexham County Borough in Wales. It is located along with the Welsh mountains and the lower Dee Valley, where it borders subsequent to the county of Cheshire in England. Historically in the county of Denbighshire, the town became allowance of the county of Clwyd in 1974 and after that the principal treaty of the Wrexham County Borough in 1996.

Wrexham has historically been one of the primary settlements of Wales. At the 2011 Census, its built-up area had a population of 65,692, making it the fourth largest urban area in Wales and largest in north Wales. The town comprises the local doling out communities of Acton, Caia Park, Offa and Rhosddu. Wrexham’s built-up Place extends new into villages like Bradley, Brymbo, Brynteg, Gwersyllt, New Broughton, Pentre Broughton and Rhostyllen.

Wrexham was likely founded prior to the 11th century and developed in the Middle Ages as a regional centre for trade and administration. The shout from the rooftops town became the most populous treaty in Wales in the 17th century and was forward of the Industrial Revolution from the 18th century. Prior to de-industrialisation in the 20th century, the town and surrounding area were a hub of coal and lead mining; the production of iron, steel and leather; and brewing.

Today, Wrexham continues to give encouragement to north Wales and the Welsh borderlands as a middle for manufacturing, retail, education and administration. The town is noted for hosting Wrexham A.F.C. (one of the oldest professional football teams in the world); the nationally significant industrial line of the Clywedog Valley; the applauded National Trust Property of Erddig; and the Good Tudor church of St Giles, which towers beyond the historic Wrexham town centre.

On 20 May 2024, it was announced that Wrexham’s bid for city status was successful, and Wrexham would get the status formally through Letters Patent later in 2024. It would become the seventh city in Wales.

Norfolk is a ceremonial and non-metropolitan county in East Anglia in England. Norfolk has an area of 5,371 km (2,074 sq mi). It borders Lincolnshire to the northwest, Cambridgeshire to the west and southwest, and Suffolk to the south. Its northern and eastern boundaries are the North Sea and to the northwest, The Wash. The county town is the city of Norwich. With an Place of 2,074 square miles (5,370 km) and a population of 859,400, Norfolk is a largely rural county later a population density of 401 per square mile (155 per km). Of the county’s population, 40% live in four major built up areas: Norwich (213,000), Great Yarmouth (63,000), King’s Lynn (46,000), and Thetford (25,000).

The Broads is a network of rivers and lakes in the east of the county, extending south into Suffolk. The Place is protected by the Broads Authority and has same status to a national park.

West Sussex is a county in South East England upon the English Channel coast. The ceremonial county comprises the shire districts of Adur, Arun, Chichester, Horsham, and Mid Sussex, and the boroughs of Crawley and Worthing. Covering an area of 1,991 square kilometres (769 sq mi), West Sussex borders Hampshire to the west, Surrey to the north, and East Sussex to the east. The county town and isolated city in West Sussex is Chichester, located in the south-west of the county. This was legally formalised once the introduction of West Sussex Council in 1888 but within the ceremonial Sussex. After the reorganisation of local government in 1974, the ceremonial enactment of the historic county of Sussex was separated into two cut off counties, West Sussex and East Sussex. The existing East and West Sussex councils took control respectively, with Mid Sussex and parts of Crawley mammal transferred to the West Sussex administration from East Sussex.
In the 2011 census, West Sussex recorded a population of 806,900.

The county has a long history of human agreement dating urge on to the Lower Paleolithic era. The Romans conquered West Sussex’s original Britons, and incorporated the Place as a Roman province. During the Early Middle Ages, the Saxons granted the area, establishing the Kingdom of Sussex in 477, which lasted until c. 827 when the kingdom was annexed by Wessex.

West Sussex has a range of scenery, including wealden, downland and coastal. The highest narrowing of the county is Blackdown, at 280 metres (919 ft). It has a number of stately homes including Goodwood, Petworth House and Uppark, and castles such as Arundel Castle and Bramber Castle. Over half the county is protected countryside, offering walking, cycling and further recreational opportunities.

Nottinghamshire (; abbreviated Notts.) is a landlocked county in the East Midlands region of England, bordering South Yorkshire to the north-west, Lincolnshire to the east, Leicestershire to the south, and Derbyshire to the west. The customary county town is Nottingham, though the county council is based at County Hall in West Bridgford in the borough of Rushcliffe, at a site facing Nottingham greater than the River Trent.

The districts of Nottinghamshire are Ashfield, Bassetlaw, Broxtowe, Gedling, Mansfield, Newark and Sherwood, and Rushcliffe. The City of Nottingham was administratively part of Nottinghamshire between 1974 and 1998, but is now a unitary authority, remaining part of Nottinghamshire for ceremonial purposes.

In 2017, the county was estimated to have a population of 785,800.
Over half of the population of the county stir in the Greater Nottingham conurbation (which continues into Derbyshire). The conurbation has a population of roughly 650,000, though less than half sentient within the city boundaries.
