Hertfordshire (; often abbreviated Herts) is one of the home counties in southern England. It borders Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire to the north, Essex to the east, Greater London to the south, and Buckinghamshire to the west. For running statistical purposes, it forms part of the East of England region.

Hertfordshire covers 634.366 square miles (1,643.00 km). It derives its name – via the herald of the county town of Hertford – from a hart (stag) and a ford, as represented upon the county’s coat of arms and on the flag. Hertfordshire County Council is based in Hertford, once the main market town and the current county town. The largest agreement is Watford.

Since 1903 Letchworth has served as the prototype garden city; Stevenage became the first town to press on under post-war Britain‘s New Towns Act of 1946.

In 2013 Hertfordshire had a population of about 1,140,700, with Hemel Hempstead, Stevenage, Watford and St Albans (the county’s only city) each having in the middle of 50,000 and 100,000 residents.Welwyn Garden City, Hoddesdon and Cheshunt are close behind with re 47,000 residents.

Elevations are highly developed in the north and west, reaching higher than 800 feet (240 m) in the Chilterns near Tring. The county centres upon the headwaters and upper valleys of the rivers Lea and the Colne; both flow south, and each is among a canal. Hertfordshire’s undeveloped home is mainly agricultural, with much of it protected by green-belt policies. Services have become the largest sector of the county’s economy. Hertfordshire is with ease served later motorways and railways for right of entry to London, the Midlands and the North.

Kent is a county in South East England and one of the home counties. It borders Greater London to the north-west, Surrey to the west and East Sussex to the south-west, and Essex to the north across the estuary of the River Thames; it faces the French department of Pas-de-Calais across the Strait of Dover. The county town is Maidstone. It is the fifth most populous county in England, the most populous non-Metropolitan county and the most populous of the home counties.

Kent was one of the first British territories to be arranged by Germanic tribes, most notably the Jutes, following the invalidation of the Romans.Canterbury Cathedral in Kent, the oldest cathedral in England, has been the chair of the Archbishops of Canterbury since the conversion of England to Christianity that began in the 6th century with Saint Augustine. Rochester Cathedral in Medway is England’s second-oldest cathedral. Located amid London and the Strait of Dover, which separates England from mainland Europe, Kent has been the quality for both skirmish and diplomacy, including the Battle of Britain in World War II and the Leeds Castle peace talks of 1978 and 2004.

England relied upon the county’s ports to allow warships through much of its history; the Cinque Ports in the 10th–14th centuries and Chatham Dockyard in the 16th–20th centuries were of particular importance. France can be seen clearly in fine weather from Folkestone and the White Cliffs of Dover. Hills in the form of the North Downs and the Greensand Ridge span the length of the county and in the Vale of Holmesdale in in the middle of and to the south are most of the county’s 26 castles.

Kent’s economy is diversified: agriculture, haulage, logistics and tourism are various industries. Because of its orchards and allotments, Kent is known as “The Garden of England”. In northwest Kent, industries tote up extraction of aggregate building materials, printing and scientific research. Coal mining has furthermore played its allowance in Kent’s industrial heritage. Large parts of Kent are within the London commuter belt and its strong transport friends to the capital and the handy continent make Kent a high-income county. Twenty-eight per cent of the county forms share of two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty: the North Downs and The High Weald.

Herefordshire is a county in the West Midlands of England, governed by Herefordshire Council. It is bordered by Shropshire to the north, Worcestershire to the east, Gloucestershire to the south-east, and the Welsh counties of Monmouthshire and Powys to the west.

Hereford, the county town of Herefordshire has a population of nearly 61,000, making it the largest harmony in the county. The bordering biggest town is Leominster and then Ross-on-Wye. The county is situated in the historic Welsh Marches, Herefordshire is one of the most rural and sparsely populated counties in England, with a population density of 82/km (212/sq mi), and a 2021 population of 187,100 – the fourth-smallest of any ceremonial county in England. The land use is mostly agricultural and the county is competently known for its fruit and cider production, and for the Hereford cattle breed.

Greater London is an administrative area in England governed by the Greater London Authority, and a ceremonial county that covers the same area, with the exception of the City of London, which forms a separate ceremonial county. The administrative area, which has the same extent as the London Region, is organised into 33 local processing districts: the 32 London boroughs and the City of London. The Greater London Authority, based in Newham as of the Begin of 2024, is liable for strategic local dealing out across the Place and consists of the Mayor of London and the London Assembly.

Greater London was first traditional in 1965 as a sui generis council Place and ceremonial county below the Greater London Council on 1 April 1965 through the London Government Act 1963. The GLC was abolished in 1986. In 1994, the Place was conventional as a direction office region called “London”. The Greater London Authority was formed in 2000.

Hampshire (, ; abbreviated to Hants) is a county in South East England upon the coast of the English Channel. The county town is Winchester, but the county is named after Southampton. Its two largest cities are Southampton and Portsmouth which are administered separately as unitary authorities; the descend of the county is governed by a concentration of the Hampshire County Council and non-metropolitan district councils.

First established about 14,000 years ago, Hampshire’s recorded history dates to Roman Britain, when its chief town was Winchester, then known as Venta Belgarum. The county was recorded in the 11th century Domesday Book, divided into 44 hundreds. From the 12th century, the ports grew in importance, fuelled by trade subsequent to the continent, wool and cloth manufacture, fishing and large shipbuilding industries. By the 16th century, the population of Southampton had outstripped that of Winchester. By the mid-19th century, the population was 219,210, double that at the start of the century, in beyond 86,000 dwellings. Agriculture was the principal industry and 10 per cent of the county was yet forest. Hampshire played a crucial military role in both World Wars. The borders of the ceremonial county were created by the Local Government Act 1972 (enacted 1974). Historically allowance of Hampshire, the Isle of Wight was made a cut off ceremonial county and the towns of Bournemouth and Christchurch were administered as allocation of the ceremonial county of Dorset.

The geography of the county is varied, with upland rising to 286 metres (938 ft) and mostly south-flowing rivers. There are areas of downland and marsh, and two national parks: the New Forest and ration of the South Downs, which together cover 45 per cent of Hampshire.

Hampshire is one of the most wealthy counties in the country, with an unemployment rate lower than the national average. Its economy mainly derives from major companies, maritime, agriculture and tourism. Tourist attractions put in seaside resorts, national parks, the National Motor Museum and the Southampton Boat Show. The county is known as the home of writers Jane Austen and Charles Dickens. Hampshire is along with the childhood house of Florence Nightingale and the birthplace of engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel.
