Hertfordshire (; often abbreviated Herts) is one of the house counties in southern England. It borders Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire to the north, Essex to the east, Greater London to the south, and Buckinghamshire to the west. For processing statistical purposes, it forms allowance of the East of England region.

Hertfordshire covers 634.366 square miles (1,643.00 km). It derives its name – via the reveal of the county town of Hertford – from a hart (stag) and a ford, as represented upon the county’s coat of arms and on the flag. Hertfordshire County Council is based in Hertford, once the main make known town and the current county town. The largest harmony is Watford.

Since 1903 Letchworth has served as the prototype garden city; Stevenage became the first town to expand below post-war Britain’s New Towns Act of 1946.

Elevations are forward-thinking in the north and west, reaching higher than 800 feet (240 m) in the Chilterns close Tring. The county centres on the headwaters and upper valleys of the rivers Lea and the Colne; both flow south, and each is in the middle of a canal. Hertfordshire’s undeveloped land is mainly agricultural, with much of it protected by green-belt policies. Services have become the largest sector of the county’s economy. Hertfordshire is without difficulty served behind motorways and railways for entrance to London, the Midlands and the North.

Northumberland is a county in Northern England, one of two counties in England which border with Scotland. Notable landmarks in the county include Alnwick Castle, Bamburgh Castle, Hadrian’s Wall and Hexham Abbey.

It is bordered by land on three sides; by the Scottish Borders region to the north, County Durham and Tyne and Wear to the south, and Cumbria to the west. The fourth side is the North Sea, with a 103 kilometres (64 mi) along its coastline. to the east. A predominantly rural county with a landscape of moorland and farmland, a large area is part of Northumberland National Park. The Place has been the site of a number of historic battles past Scotland.

Greater Manchester is a metropolitan county and combined authority area in North West England, with a population of 2.8 million; comprising ten metropolitan boroughs: Manchester, Salford, Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Rochdale, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford and Wigan. The county was created upon 1 April 1974, as a result of the Local Government Act 1972, and designated a functional city region on 1 April 2011. Greater Manchester is formed of parts of the historic counties of Cheshire, Lancashire and the West Riding of Yorkshire.

Greater Manchester spans 493 square miles (1,277 km), which approaching covers the territory of the Greater Manchester Built-up Area, the second most populous urban area in the UK. Though geographically landlocked, it is related to the sea by the Manchester Ship Canal which is nevertheless open to shipping in Salford and Trafford. Greater Manchester borders the ceremonial counties of Cheshire (to the south-west and south), Derbyshire (to the south-east), West Yorkshire (to the north-east), Lancashire (to the north) and Merseyside (to the west). There is a blend of high-density urban areas, suburbs, semi-rural and rural locations in Greater Manchester, but house use is mostly urban—the product of concentric urbanisation and industrialisation which occurred mostly during the 19th century once the region flourished as the global middle of the cotton industry. It has a focused central thing district, formed by Manchester city centre and the next to city of Salford and Borough of Trafford, but Greater Manchester is with a polycentric county like ten metropolitan districts, each district is concentrated regarding a large town or a city (Manchester and Salford being the lonely cities). These districts contain suburbs, towns and villages for each city and town.

Greater Manchester is governed by the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA), which consists of embassy leaders from each of the ten metropolitan borough councils, plus a directly elected mayor, with answerability for economic development, regeneration and transport. Andy Burnham is the inaugural Mayor of Greater Manchester, elected in 2017. For the 12 years subsequent to 1974, the county had a two-tier system of local government; district councils shared talent with the Greater Manchester County Council. The county council was abolished in 1986 and consequently its districts (the metropolitan boroughs) effectively became unitary authority areas. However, the metropolitan county continued to exist in piece of legislation and as a geographic frame of reference, and as a ceremonial county, with a Lord Lieutenant and a High Sheriff. Several county-wide facilities were co-ordinated through the Association of Greater Manchester Authorities between 1985 and 2011.

Before the commencement of the metropolitan county, the publish for the area was “South East Lancashire North East Cheshire”(SELNEC). Greater Manchester is an amalgamation of 70 former local dispensation districts from the former administrative counties of Lancashire, Cheshire, the West Riding of Yorkshire and eight independent county boroughs. Since deindustrialisation in the mid-20th century, Greater Manchester has emerged as a major middle for services, media and digital industries, and is Famous for guitar and dance music and its association football teams.

Leicestershire (; postal abbreviation Leics.) is a ceremonial and non-metropolitan county in the East Midlands, England. The county borders Nottinghamshire to the north, Lincolnshire to the north-east, Rutland to the east, Northamptonshire to the south-east, Warwickshire to the south-west, Staffordshire to the west, and Derbyshire to the north-west. The affix with most of Warwickshire is Watling Street, the modern A5 road.

Leicestershire takes its state from the city of Leicester located at its middle and administered separately from the settle of the county. Buckinghamshire , abbreviated Bucks, is a ceremonial county in South East England that borders Greater London to the south-east, Berkshire to the south, Oxfordshire to the west, Northamptonshire to the north, Bedfordshire to the north-east and Hertfordshire to the east.

Buckinghamshire is one of the Home Counties, the counties of England that surround Greater London. Towns such as High Wycombe, Amersham, Chesham and the Chalfonts in the east and southeast of the county are parts of the London commuter belt, forming some of the most densely populated parts of the county, with some even mammal served by the London Underground. Development in this region is restricted by the Metropolitan Green Belt. The largest treaty is Milton Keynes in the northeast, which considering the surrounding Place is administered as a unitary authority separately to the get out of of Buckinghamshire. The remainder of the county is administered by Buckinghamshire Council as complementary unitary authority. Other large settlements add together the county town of Aylesbury in the centre, the former county town of Buckingham in the northwest, Marlow in the south near the Thames and Princes Risborough in the west near Oxford.
